Antigone, by Sophocles, is a tale about the struggle among Antigone, who have represents the laws from the gods and Creon, who represents the laws in the state. The play takes place circa 442 B. C. in the city-state of Thebes. The story involves the burial of Polyneices. Polyneices led an army against his buddy, Etocles, the King of Thebes. That they killed the other person in struggle and the fresh king, Creon, made a decree that just Etocles was to be left because Polyneices was his rival. Antigone, sister of Polyneices and Etocles, feels that the girl needs to bury Polyneices in accordance to Zeus' rules, but this kind of went against Creon's decree. Also, Antigone has to bury Polyneices with no help of her sister Ismene. Since Antigone decided to stick to Zeus' regulation, which states that all body must be smothered, she defied Creon's decree and smothered Polyneices anyways. Caught by guards, although burying her brother, Antigone was provided for a rugged chamber because punishment simply by Creon. Creon's son, Haemon, was engaged to marry Antigone, nevertheless he combined with the rest of the metropolis thought Antigone's death was unjust. Even after Teirsias, the impaired prophet, warned Creon to discharge Antigone and bury Polyneices, Creon remained reluctant. Finally, Teirsias told Creon the fact that gods were going to penalize him and Creon started to be worried. By the time he have to the rocky chamber, it absolutely was too late: Antigone already put up herself.
